Portfolio 2009/2010

At the end of every year I always like to make a selection of my best work to put in my portfolio. Also this year I have made a portfolio. It took me a lot of time and work to make this portfolio cause it is quite special. The idea behind this whole portfolio is to show the hidden process behind each product. This because you never see this process when you look at a product. I would like to show the importance but also the beauty of the hidden process. People forget that the process is more important then the end product. But it is also just as interesting! I have chosen to call this portfolio: the hidden process
It is made in English. This to make it more easy for people in other countries to understand it. Please have a look at my portfolio and let me know how you think about it.

Code Castle Guide

When you make a very complicated installation you will always need a guide. This to show people how it works. But also to make other people understand how they need to build the installation when they use it. Therefor I made a special guide for the installation. I was inspired by the simplicity of the Ikea brochure. The guide is made in Illustrator and you can see it below.

Interactive Installation

Making an interactive installation for children. We had to know more about the world of children. What do they like? and what is their perspective of the world? Our assignment was to make an installation that would give children an introduction to image language. We got on the idea to make the introduction in secret language combines with the middle ages. This because children are mostly fascinated by the middle ages. We made a colorful castle with several puzzles in it consisting of secret language. In the movie you can see the tour at the installation and how everything works.

Working with Arduino! Specially for our project last year in 4th semester we had to work with these great techniques. The possibilities are endless as you can see in the next movie. With the Arduino we have made the light sensors react on light. After anything changes the stir spoon will turn to the other side. At the other side is another light sensor that will react on that again. Like this you will create a chain reaction.
